Hi Everyone,
I’m back on the blog after a two-week hiatus! For my first-time readers - Welcome and thanks for stopping by! Each week I write about a new topic to help you in your wedding planning! This week’s topic is about music for your wedding. As my repeat readers know, I took a break from writing for the past couple weeks as I got married! Yes, that is a picture of me and my husband during our first dance! Isn't he just the cutest?!
I had an April wedding in New Hampshire and you never know what the weather will bring in New England that time of year. We were so lucky to have a sunny, 57 degree day! I had planned for an outdoor ceremony and was so glad that the weather allowed us to do so. Everything about the entire weekend was magical and went by so fast! I encourage all of you to savor every moment of your engagement as it goes by so quickly.
As a wedding planner, I was overly involved with every detail of my wedding (I’m sure some of my vendors thought I was crazy, but hey – it’s my job!) One of things I really wanted was great music that all of our guests would enjoy. As most weddings do, we had a mixed age group ranging from age 16 all the way to age 90! I never wanted to see the dance floor empty so I created a playlist for my DJ with all of my Do Not Play songs along with my Must-Play songs. My Must-Play list ended up being so long that it was basically the list the DJ could choose from all night. At the very least, I always encourage my couples to create a Do Not Play list. There is nothing worse than getting your groove on and then hearing your least favorite song come over the speakers on the best day of your life (for me that song is Single Ladies by Beyonce, sorry but I just can’t!)
I can’t tell you how many compliments I got on this playlist over brunch the following morning. All of my guests said they had so much fun and the music was fantastic. I even got a few “that was the best wedding we have ever been to” compliments and those just put me over the moon! I figured, if my 120 guests loved this playlist so much – I’m sure others out there would to! Without further ado – I give to you, the Hamilton-Johnson Wedding Reception Playlist! I hope you all enjoy it as much as I did!
