Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a great weekend and enjoyed some of the “warmer” temperatures! I had another fun-filled weekend conducting market research for all of my future brides and meeting some of the area’s best wedding vendors! A special thank you to Do’s and Dye’s by Julie, Kiss and Makeup, The Webb Barn, Makeup by Samar and Bluebird Farm for taking time this weekend to meet with me! Brides – you can’t go wrong with any of these vendors, they are all true professionals in the industry and just lovely people in general!
This week’s blog post is a venue spotlight on Bluebird Farm in Willington, CT. This venue is an absolute hidden gem for any bride looking for a rustic-themed wedding (that’s just about everyone these days, am I right?!) From a picture perfect old barn to acres of grassy fields and flowers and a handful of farm animals (dogs, sheep, goats, and chickens to name a few) – Bluebird Farm has everything to make your rustic wedding a dream come true!
As I was driving up Jared Sparks Road, the houses started to become fewer and farther between and I was anxious to see what the farm was going to look like. Sure enough, my GPS told me I had arrived and I took a left turn up a gravel driveway and was welcomed by several of the friendly dogs that live on the property. The owners, Carmen and Joe Hall, came out to greet me and could not have been any more friendly or hospitable.
The Halls have owned the farm for 3 years and recently decided to start hosting weddings. Carmen and Joe are true hosts and go above and beyond to ensure your wedding weekend with them is perfect. They understand that all weddings are different and each couple is unique. Therefore, they allow you to utilize any vendor of your choosing! Many similar venues only allow you to choose from a pre-set list of preferred vendors.
The property also offers an AirBnB suite so the bride and groom (or bridal party) can spend the full weekend on-site for a truly one-of-a kind experience! The suite is located inside the barn on top of an old hayloft (the perfect spot to set up your bar for cocktail hour!).
The barn itself is the ideal backdrop for your outdoor ceremony. The Halls provide rustic wood benches for your guests to sit on as well as a paved area for the wedding party to stand. The reception would then take place under a tent and can accommodate up to 150 guests. They also have a large outdoor fire pit surrounded by oversize Adirondack chairs and plenty of grassy space for lawn games (they even provide you with cornhole boards for your guests to use). For an even more authentic farm experience – they offer tractor hayrides as an added enhancement.
One of the features I really loved about this venue is the outdoor gazebo that can be used as a bridal suite! They have bamboo shades inside to give the bride and her attendants all the privacy they need as well as plush futons to lounge on while getting ready. The gazebo is surrounded by lush gardens that make for beautiful photos when the bride emerges in her gown. I mean, really, does it get any better than that?!
As if all of this wasn’t enough to convince you to book this venue – your guests can even take a little piece of the farm home with them when they leave. Carmen makes a variety of authentic New England jams and spreads that can be purchased to give out as wedding favors. Sign me up!
