Lauren and James were married on a beautiful July day at Lion Rock Farm in Sharon, Connecticut.
These two were actually my first couple to hire me for this venue that I have grown to know and love.
Our planning partnership began about eight months before the big day. Lauren came to me wanting help with booking the majority of her vendor team as well as design concept creation and implementation.
With only eight months to put together a lot of big ticket items, we got to work right away! We began by hiring their photographer, Chris & Becca Photography, finalizing a menu outline with Hunt & Harvest and beginning their design concept. We also set up a time to site the venue together to walk through how they wanted to use the space. Lion Rock is a vast property that offers numerous location options for ceremony, cocktail hour and reception. Lauren and James knew they wanted to use Troutbeck as their home base so we did not need to plan a space at Lion Rock for a rehearsal dinner or brunch.
One of the things that I love about Lion Rock is the ability to host a large group of friends and family on the property. When we have a space at the venue for both the bride and groom to get ready, it eliminates a lot of stress. We can have everyone get dressed on-site, all pictures on-site, and no one has to worry that they forgot anything.
Lauren and her girls got ready in the main house while James and the groomsmen were stationed at the lower cottage. My team and I arrived on-site at 11am to oversee all vendor load-in and set up. Both Lauren and James were in great spirits and so excited for the day ahead.
Tent weddings at Lion Rock often take several days to set-up. As you can see, we had quite a bit going on under this tent. The foliage that you see requires cable rigging to be hung that the greens get affixed to. Our lighting and rigging process began on Thursday, the flower installation began on Friday and rentals were also delivered on Friday. Saturday was a full day on property too with everyone making sure each detail was absolutely perfect.
The end result was one of my favorite tents to date. I love how lush, welcoming and timeless this design felt. We stuck with a mostly neutral palette and let the natural landscape speak for itself. Guests got to enjoy this sprawling property from the moment they arrived.
We directed everyone through the courtyard and apple orchard to enjoy a glass of champagne before inviting them to the large back lawn for the ceremony under the oak tree. From here, guests were then greeted by tray passed hors d'oeuvres as they made their way to cocktail hour adjacent to the pool barn. This portion of the venue features a gorgeous pergola covered in vines that offers scenic views of the mountains. When it was time to bring everyone into the tent for dinner, we opened up the doors to the pool barn so guests could pass through to find their escort card.
Guests were treated to a delectable array of entrees, amazing music by Atomic Funk Project, custom cocktails at the 18' bar and an overall feeling of love, celebration and excitement for this lovely couple.
