Hello Everyone!
I hope everyone is having a great start to the last holiday season of this decade. Isn’t that crazy?! Thanksgiving just passed which is one of my favorite holidays (if not my absolute favorite, seriously what’s not to like about food, wine, family and zero pressure of gift buying?!). We did things a little differently this year and headed down to Rockport, Massachusetts to spend the weekend with my extended family. The past few years I have had the pleasure of hosting (because let’s be real, as a wedding planner and lover of all things food, coordination and events, I live to host things!) I truly do love the holiday season – the chill in the air, Christmas movies 24/7, blankets, hot cocoa, stick-to-your-ribs dinners, baking, ugh all of it! I’ll be soaking in the magic of this time of year for the next few weeks!
Anyways, let’s get to the real reason for today’s post outside of me gushing over how much I love Christmas – Kelly and Paul’s wedding at the Glastonbury Hills Country Club this past August! Kelly had hired me for a very unique package and one I had never offered before – assistance only with pre-planning and coordination and then passing the baton over to her venue staff to execute things.

She reached out to me a few months before her wedding day realizing that she was in over her head and needed someone outside of the family/friend circle to help her make objective decisions and pull all the final details together. We kicked off the planning with a marathon day of meetings – we started out at her venue in the morning to walk the space, discuss design and flow and go over her menu selections. From there, we headed over to their cake tasting and lunch at their rehearsal dinner location to try out the menu and wrapped up the day discussing florals with Amberworks Floral Design. After this initial meeting, we had numerous phone calls and emails to go over everything from the floor plan, timeline, photography locations, transportation schedules and even details as small as which picture frames to purchase for her memorial table.
When working out their final timeline, Kelly knew she wanted to have a First Look but we ran into a few issues of where this would be held as we couldn’t have access to their venue early enough to make this happen and the hotel wasn’t as picturesque as we wanted. I helped her research locations in between the hotel and the venue with beautiful landscaping, an indoor back-up space in case of rain and also one that wasn’t already hosting a wedding of their own. Trust me, this is pretty difficult to find in peak wedding season! We decided that the Silas W Robbins Inn in Wethersfield was the perfect space. Her husband, Paul, was hesitant on if he even wanted to do a First Look but when we proposed this property, he was on board with the plan and excited to experience this moment in such a grand setting.
I helped them with everything all the way through the rehearsal the day prior. We met on-site at Glastonbury Hills Country Club to do the final décor drop-off and a final timeline review with the venue coordinator to ensure everyone was on the same page and the day would flow seamlessly. And it did!
Their wonderful photographer, Jess Cremins, sent me a few sneak peeks the day after the wedding and I was blown away by how beautiful everything was. They had a perfect Connecticut day for a wedding.
Kelly and Paul – thank you so much for trusting me with this monumental day in your lives and I hope you both are loving married life!
