Hannah and Kyle were married on a beautiful spring day in May of 2021 at the Hill-Stead Museum in Farmington, Connecticut. These two were my first 2021 wedding and really set the tone for the season.
If you've been following my blog for the past year, you'll notice a trend, most of my couples had their wedding plans impacted by Covid-19 and Hannah and Kyle were no exception. What was initially meant to be a 150 person wedding turned into an intimate wedding of 35 guests.
Hannah knew she was always going to get married at Hill-Stead. She grew up right around the corner from the venue and it has always held a special place in her heart. She booked the venue and began her planning (all in a pre-Covid world!).
As Covid evolved, so did Hannah's vision for the wedding (and that is when she brought me on board). In order to abide by the current event guidelines, her guest count needed to drop. We worked together to recreate her wedding menu, update the tent size, and ensure that just because it was going to be a smaller wedding, that it was no less special than the big wedding she initially planned for.
Her design concept centered around a particular lighting piece - a trellis suspended from the tent adorned in greenery and Edison bulbs. We wanted things to feel natural, complement the space and welcoming. The Hill-Stead's grounds lend themselves nicely to a garden-inspired wedding. We had a few rustic touches like the wood farm tables that warmed the space and went with the natural feeling.
Hannah, a fellow ice cream lover like myself, said one of her must-haves was Klondike bars at the reception. We worked with her caterer to ensure that these treats made their way into the dessert hour. We hand-passed these during a dance set from the band and guests were delighted with the surprise!
The Hill-Stead is truly a beautiful venue and I think it's impossible to not have a beautiful wedding here. This one was no exception!
Hannah and Kyle - thank you for trusting me with this special day!

Hiring Alyssa was the best decision I made for our wedding! We postponed due to COVID, and then reduced our guest size from 150 to 35 people. It was an outdoor event where everything had to be brought in, and I was simply feeling unenthusiastic about the wedding and unmotivated to plan it all over again. I hired Alyssa to avoid reconfiguring every vendor order and negotiating pre-existing contracts. Throughout the process, Alyssa not only took everything off of my plate, but she also got me excited for the wedding again. She is incredibly organized and detail-oriented, but she also has the bigger picture in mind of creating a space and a moment that people will simply enjoy! In the days leading up to the wedding, Alyssa went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect including calling the tent company and having them come back to the venue a second time to fix an issue that many others would have simply "dealt with." Everything felt seamless and we had the best time!
