At-home weddings are some of our favorite over here at AJSE. There is nothing we love more than designing a one-of-a kind venue that will never exist again. Every single element is being brought in especially for you and the design is truly unique to your styles.
At-home weddings also bring many challenges since it's not a venue that has a process in place for hosting large scale events. We have to think about things like guest parking, restrooms, water hook-ups, generators and electricity grids, the flow of the space, rain plans, noise ordinances for the town as well as obtaining any necessary permits. It is no wonder why most couples planning weddings on private estates opt to hire a wedding planner.
This June wedding for one of our couples in Medusa, New York was no exception. The groom's aunt owned a gorgeous piece of property overlooking the Catskills that was a perfect setting for a wedding. But a lot needed to be done to get the space ready to host 150 guests. We started our planning about 16 months in advance and worked tirelessly throughout that time to ensure every last detail was planned.
Our design felt natural with a touch of bohemian elements yet beautiful and warm. We incorporated natural textures like wooden farm tables with wooden cross back chairs complemented with rattan charger plates, whimsical blue linens and minimalist florals in bud vases. We chose blue water goblets paired with modern wine glasses with clean lines.
Our menu was served family-style to keep that feeling of togetherness and warmth flowing throughout the evening. Music by Hudson Horns got everyone out on the dance floor until the grand finale of the evening - fireworks provided by Young Explosives.
The setting, the weather, the design, the music, all of it came together beautifully to give this AJSE couple their dream wedding day! And we had an absolute blast pulling it all together.
